Top Go-to Resources…

Updated: Jun 9, 2022

After taking last week off from blogging as Addy graduated kindergarten (way to go Addy!), I wanted to share some great resources that have helped us on our journey thus far. I think it’s important to find outlets and resources that you can depend on when raising a special needs child. Listed below are my “Go-To” resources, what they provide and how they benefit Addy.

  1. Child Mind Institute – Is dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders by giving them the help they need. They’ve become the leading independent nonprofit in children’s mental health by providing gold-standard evidence-based care, delivering educational resources to millions of families each year, training educators in underserved communities, and developing tomorrow’s breakthrough treatments.

    1. When I need the latest research, education, or tools, Child Mind Institute is the first site I click on.

  2. Newline Behavioral Solutions – A team of professionals who have dedicated their lives to bettering the lives of families of children with special needs. They specialize in autism therapy, though they are skilled at treating all children that have behavioral issues or deficits in socialization, language, and play.

    1. Finding a great ABA agency that truly understands is key. Newline Behavioral Solutions has a great leader as well as great therapists.

  3. KidList – Has the scoop on sensory-friendly activities and events for children with disabilities! These all-inclusive events and activities are often limited to smaller group sizes to help reduce noise and activity, while increasing engagement and the ability for kids to move about. There are many new options such as theaters, play places, museum times, and movie screenings that accommodate special needs.

    1. Are you ever looking for things to do around Chicago/Western Suburbs? This site has a great listing of venues that accommodates all types of children with disabilities.

  4. Grit and Grace Yoga - A unique branded fitness platform which offers virtual training in the form of live and on-demand workout videos. This is the most fun you'll ever have sparking healthy weight loss, toning, trimming up and boosting your metabolism naturally.

    1. Taking care of yourself allows you to take care of others. I have been working out with Alex R for years, and she keeps me strong inside and out!

Much love,

Raising Addy
